Discovering Laos tripadvisor reviews

"My wife and I spent a fabulous day with Discovering Laos kayaking the Nam Ha in late January 2019. The many great memories of our day will stay with us for years!
Background information. There are numerous companies offering outdoor adventures in Louang Namtha so understandably then best options to meet each traveler interests and requirements can be expected to change regularly. Before arriving in Laos I researched options through combination of travel guide recommendations, reviews from TripAdvisor, websites of companies and few travel blogs. I had selected Discovering Laos and two other companies as likely 3 best options for us.
There are endless positives of our experience with Discovering Laos!
Discovering Laos website. From our experience (1 Day - Kayak/Rafting NamHa River) the information on the website is very true and representative. I encourage you to look through their site. I especially appreciated the inclusion of a trip map on the site.
Company is locally owned. Guides are local. The trips that are described as being in Nam Ha Protected Area indeed are. Money flows back to the Park, the minority villages and local villagers through park fees"

"Siyong Is a master jungle chef and entertained us with his artistry and craftsmanship; I will keep as a souvenir his bamboo coffee cup engraved with a scorpion. The kayaking was challenging and thrilling but not over the top. Getting to and from Luang Namtha is a huge ordeal with the awful roads and beat up minibuses, but the authentic (completely non-touristy) experience we were provided by Discovering Laos made it well worth the effort. I highly recommend this outfit"

"This has been, in the last month traveling southeast Asia, my favorite experience. It's difficult to describe how special it has been, how we felt in love with our guides, how authentic and wild the experience was, but I'll try. At first, we feeled quite overwhelmed but all the travel agencies that offer very similar treks and kayaking in Luang Namhta. We read a lot of opinions here in Tripadvisor, but there wasn't any one that was by far the best. So we spent two hours talking with 6 agencies (the better ranked here and another one). We felt charmed by the last one, Vanxai, the owner of Discovering Laos.
Vanxai gave us a lot of explanations about his philosophy, the possible treks and, after hearing all our expectations, he found for us two guides for beginning a 3 day, 2 night treks the very next day. This is a local agency owned by local people, who know perfectly what they do, and that don't fall in unethical practices. If you want to really contribute to ecotourism, this is the perfect choice."
