2 days kayak/Raft namha river
Two days (one night) trip paddling down the life-pumping current of Namha river.
Kayak bravely in the National Park and let the spirit of the water bring you through restless rapids, shady canopy corridors, arches of bamboo bridges, mystic jungle scenery and timeless tribal villages. Float calmly and enjoy the concert of the rainforest changing rhythm at each smooth turn of the river.
Difficulty: Easy - Moderate
09:00. Starting off at the office. Aproximately 1 hour by tuk-tuk to Tha Sae village.
10:00. 4-5 hours kayaking. After basic instructions on kayaking techniques and safety, the paddling starts in Nam Ha river which runs through the heart of the National park. After about 2-3 hours, it’s lunch time and you stop for a picnic and swim (for those that are not totally soaked yet).
01:00. In the afternoon the paddling goes on through exciting rapids overlooked by the majestic thick forests of the National Park. A refreshing stop at Namha village allows you to exchange few words (signs) with the locals and offers a brief introduction to the Khamu lifestyle.
03:00. Getting to Nalan village, a small and charming Khmu settlement. Take a rest, swim in the river and/or have a walk around. Sleeping in an eco-lodge.
09:00. Waking up and breakfast.
10:00. 2-3 hours kayaking. In the first two hours you take two short and refreshing breaks in Khamu villages situated on the river bank. Afterwards a set of rapids ’delivers’ you straight to a cosy jungle picnic spot.
01:00. As the sun begins its descent west, the paddling switches in between stretches of calm water and quick rapids. Keep an eye to the forest around for the fly-overs of beautiful tropical birds.
03:00. The kayaking finishes at Houay Leuat village.
From there it is about an hour tuk-tuk ride to Lunag Namtha.
